چکیده
In post-mortem investigations of fatal intoxication, it is challenging to determine which drug(s) were responsible for the death, and drugs did not. This study aims provide femoral blood drug levels in lethal intoxication control cases, where cause death was other than intoxication. The reference values could assist interpretation toxicological results routine casework. To this end, all from 2011 2017 Western Switzerland considered. A full autopsy with systematic analysis (STA) conducted cases. Results take into account classified one four categories (as published by Druid colleagues): I) certified substance alone, IIa) more substance, IIb) causes incapacitation due drugs, III) without drugs. includes 1 990 cases analysed. material comprised 619 women (31%) 371 men (69%) a median age 50 years. concentrations 32 most frequently recorded substances as well alcohol are discussed. These include 6 opioids opiates, 3 antidepressants, neuroleptics hypnotics, barbiturate, 11 benzodiazepines (and related drugs), 2 amphetamine-type stimulants, cocaine, paracetamol, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). common that caused alone morphine, methadone, ethanol, tramadol, cocaine. concentration ranges categorized I, IIa, IIb, or III. Statistical discussed compared previously concentrations. shows recording classifying time-consuming, but rewarding long-term perspective achieve reliable information about non-fatal

Methadone dose and post-mortem blood concentration.
The relationship of methadone dose with post-mortem blood concentration was investigated using data collected from 1994 coronial cases in the Australian state of New South Wales. Data on 31 subjects were summarized using linear regression. The weight-adjusted methadone dose, gender, methadone maintenance treatment status and its interaction with adjusted-dose were all significant predictors of ...

Drug concentrations in post-mortem femoral blood compared with therapeutic concentrations in plasma
Therapeutic drug concentrations measured in plasma are of limited value as reference intervals for interpretation in post-mortem (PM) toxicology. In this study, drug concentration distributions were studied in PM femoral venous blood from 57 903 Finnish autopsy cases representing all causes of death during an 11-year period. Cause-of-death information was obtained from death certificates issued...
متن کاملThe Role of Ethanol in Cocaine Concentration in Human Post-mortem Whole Blood
Regardless of its form, the coingestion of cocaine (COC) and ethanol is still a very important problem in drug abuse. The formation of the transesterification byproduct, cocaethylene (CE), which has lower LD50 has led to the idea that the combination of the two drugs is more toxic (lethal) than just cocaine individual response and that smaller concentrations of the drug concentration should be ...
متن کاملThe redistribution of selected psychiatric drugs in post-mortem cases.
The post-mortem redistribution of a number of psychiatric drugs was investigated. A portion of liver, the gastric contents and blood collected from heart and femoral sites was obtained from 13 cases and analyzed by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry. Drugs detected included five selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors; venlafaxine, a serotonin/noradrenaline reuptake inhibitor; and risperid...
